The Best Advice Your Dad Ever Gave You

Well, it’s Father’s Day this month and a pretty exciting one too! It got me thinking about the whole “Fatherly Advice” thing, wondering what the best advice I ever got was, wondering what the best advice I might give could be.

I asked a few friends, had a look on the web and, in no particular order; here are some of the top bits of fatherly advice:

  • Every person you meet in life, even the last wretch on the street can teach you something.
  • Sleep on it; never make a life changing decision when you are angry.
  • Hire people smarter than you.
  • If wealth is lost nothing is lost, if health is lost something is lost and if character is lost everything is lost.
  • Buy a plunger before you need a plunger.
  • Never quit your job without another one lined up.
  • If you’re the smartest person in the room, you’re in the wrong room.
  • And for laughs: If you ever plan on committing a robbery make sure it’s enough money that you only have to do it once.
  • If you want something, go out and buy it. If you don’t have any money, then go out an earn it.

Feel free to comment with the best advice your Dad ever gave you!
